Edinburgh has been the Scottish capital since the 15th century and is now a world heritage site. It has two distinct areas: the Old Town, dominated by a medieval fortress; and the neoclassical New Town, whose development from the 18th century onwards had a far-reaching influence on European urban planning. The harmonious juxtaposition of these two contrasting historic areas, each with many important buildings, is what gives the city its unique character and beautiful setting. In summer, enjoy Edinburgh’s world-famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Edinburgh Fringe and Edinburgh International Festival.
There are plenty of quality hotels and bed and breakfast guest houses (B&B) with plenty to do and see. For more information please visit: www.edinburgh.org and www.EdinburghGuide.com or contact the School.
